17 MayInternational Mindedness: A Roundtable Discussion with teachers and students
On Thursday 17 May, II Medio students, New Zealand ex-change students and teachers were invited to participate in a roundtable discussion in English on the question: “What does it mean to be a global citizen?” It was a fruitful exchange of ideas, preconceptions and thoughts about what they have experienced so far, and what they think we should do as The Mackay School community to develop and promote international mindedness in its members.
Students in today’s international schools, growing up to be global leaders of the future, require a remarkable insight into people and cultures across the world, and a concern for the well-being of the world community. Around the world, many educational systems are gearing themselves toward catering to a greater global consciousness, and so are we here at Mackay! We hope this discussion helped teachers and students understand that, as global citizens, our choices and actions have repercussions for people and communities locally, nationally and internationally.
